Bilingual teachers provide extra comfort and reassurance that learners need. Many of us feel vulnerable when learning a new language. Enabling extra support and reassurance during first lessons is key to boosting their confidence and motivation.
I am committed to making learners feel as comfortable as possible. I make my lessons flexible to learn at their own pace during the week.
Tailor approach
Lessons are addressed in a different and fun way. I start off by exploring the needs of the student, what he/she already knows and what needs improvement, ensuring he/she receives the support needed to address the questions: in English or in the mother tongue.
Predict errors
Have you ever tried to translate a sentence from your mother tongue to a second language? You probably realized that in many cases, words that fit perfectly in your native language might not work well in another one.
The teacher who speaks the same language can almost predict the words that the learner will choose to communicate, allowing him/her to identify and address those errors from the start.
Create a positive learning environment
Learning a new language is tricky as it is. I am committed to making students feel as comfortable as possible. I always try to make it clear from the beginning that it’s ok to make mistakes. We all do!
Practice makes perfect
During the lessons, students are encouraged to put what they learned into practice as much as possible. I will encourage them to make use of their vocabulary and incorporate new words they’ve never used. I do a lot of role-plays to make it as dynamic as possible. I like students to see how they can make use of the language and what they are learning: whether it’s introducing themselves and what they do, practicing speaking up in public, or meeting a friend.

Opleiding
I graduated with a Master degree at University of Amsterdam. I am passionate about teaching and my customized lessons are designed to maximize each student's success.
Leservaring
I have many years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels in private and group lessons and in corporate settings. I teach all aspects of Dutch and prepare students, as requested, for standardized tests.
