I can teach you the basics of sound and technique of the instrument, as well as the fundaments of music theory, in order to have an effective and enjoyable approach right from the first lesson.
If you are already an intermediate or advanced player, I can share with you my knowledge about the art of improvising, with many exercises from the easiest to the most complex.
Also, we can work on composition, you compose your own pieces and bring your music to the next level.

My name is Giovanni and I am a professional jazz saxophonist and flutist with years of experience in genres such as as jazz, pop, funk and latin.
I got my master degree studying in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Temple University in Philadelphia, earlier I graduated bachelor in jazz at the University of Arts in Graz.

Depending on your interests, we can focus on learning tunes (Latin, Pop, Jazz, Rock or Funk!) sound, technique, tools for improvising or composing, harmony, rhythmical exercises and ear training.

I have been teaching saxophone and music since 2013, and I especially like to teach individual lessons, to look into what kind if music my students like and try to work with them with that material to improve their musical skills. My effort is to build a connection with my students and with their taste and direction in music, customizing the lesson towards their goals and ambitions.

I have a wide experience in terms of genres and music styles, as well as in terms of professional situations (live concerts, recording sessions, teaching online and in person, cruise ship gigs).

I am constantly writing new music and performing with my bands, I spend my time between Mexico and Italy at the moment, researching Mexican and latin traditional music, and composing, playing, teaching and recording as much as I can.

I have taught masterclasses and private lessons in Italy (Merano jazz festival), The Netherlands, Mexico (JazzUV - University of Veracruz; UNICACH - University of Chiapas).

Music is an art that gives great rewards if approached with passion and dedication, and it is a great feeling for a teacher to see that approach in a student!

In addition to classical guitar training, I obtained a master's degree in jazz and contemporary music as a performing musician. I have lived in Paris and London, played with fantastic musicians and have been teaching young people and adults in Dutch, French and English for over 25 years.

The style and level of the lessons are of course dependent on the student. One wants to sing and be able to accompany themselves, the other wants to learn to improvise. Blues, rock, funk, soul, fusion, flamenco, hip hop, mambo, reggae, folk, bossa, disco, ska, samba, tango, classical, pop ... no problem, what matters is that you have fun in the to play.

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁
I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,...
After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw!

Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc.

Hello and welcome to my music studio! It is absolutely fabulous that you are interested in music, and I hope you have lots and lots of fun with it! However, diving into the wonders of the piano/keyboard can be a bit overwhelming... and that is where I come in!
This course is for anyone from complete beginners to advanced students, from lessons that focus completely on classical music to lessons that include or focus on the basics of jazz/pop. If you like to sing, we can also work on the basics of jazz/pop vocal, so you can learn to accompany yourself at the piano.
In our lessons, technique will be an inherent part of the training, as well as analysis, basic music theory, and efficient ways of practicing music. If that all sounds good to you, then please reach out to me and we can start ASAP!

So who am I?
In a nutshell, I am a professional pianist, vocalist, lyricist and blogger. Since 2014, I have taught in various music schools, teaching piano, ensemble, jazz vocal, and solfege.
On a more elaborate note, I obtained my Master of Arts in classical piano, summa cum laude, at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (KASK) in 2017, and studied as a Fulbrighter at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington USA during the 2019-2020 academic year.
Every day, I strive to become a better musician and person, and I aim to transfer that passion to my students.

Here you will learn about all the technical aspects of the flute such as breathing-blowing, tonguing, articulation, flexibility, fingering... But I think it is also important that you can have other skills which, in my opinion, are completely necessary for a good musician. For example, we will work on your sight reading, we will analyze the pieces played so that you understand the harmony and the structure... we will work on musicality and style so that you can develop your own musical spirit. We will also work on study techniques so that you can learn the abilities that will make you completely independent. As a teacher with more than 6 years of experience, I offer private lessons for all ages and all levels.
I learned my teaching skills from famous flute teachers of our time.
