I have experience in teaching English for success in school. My goal is to challenge the learner student and give them a better understanding of the English language. I give homework after every lesson and am open to the parents to discuss their child's progress.

Hello to all of you! I welcome you to my profile. You would like to learn French and I would also like to teach you French. Fortunately, French is my native language. I live in Brussels where I have taught many French courses to French speakers and also to non-French speakers in the framework of FLE (French as a Foreign Language), mostly face-to-face and also some distance learning. I want to expand the use of distance learning. Hence my presence on this site. My greatest wish is to help you make as much progress as possible in French. To this end, I use a judicious combination of oral and written exchanges. I use these conversations to introduce grammatical concepts and expand your vocabulary. In fact, I speak it at a "normal" pace, but with a more limited vocabulary and expressions than yours. I have been a tutor on Apprentus for more than 5 years and have had many students of different ages and nationalities around the world online and in person in The Netherlands. If you already know the language, but you cannot pronounce it very well and you want others to understand you, I can teach you the correct accent of that language. It may seem difficult to you at first, but we will practice together via the webcam and you will see that with my help it will only become easier for you. You will pronounce the language well. Both teacher and student want results, and practice proves that individual attention and a personalized lesson plan work best. During the introductory meeting we will first discuss your wishes, what English is needed for, interests, and very importantly, your current level in order to draw up a lesson plan. And of course we also look at preferences regarding teaching style, because this can differ per student. After my studies as a Second Degree English teacher, I enjoyed teaching for a number of years. I was also co-owner of my own translation/text agency Dutch/English and English/Dutch. I continued my translation work from various English-speaking countries. I lived and worked in Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia, where I learned to speak English like the locals. During my long time abroad I followed various studies, including in the field of music, linguistics and animals (especially horses). After many years abroad, I returned to the Netherlands in 2017 and now enjoy teaching English (online). Because I have lived in various English-speaking countries for almost 30 years, my English is exceptionally good. I have learned a bit of culture from each country and of course also some local pronunciation, and when I cheerfully greet you with a G'day mate! then that might be the first Australian expression you hear. But of course you first learn 'proper English', so that everyone can understand you!

I like to use different methods to teach French to students. It can be through songs, drama, role play or videos. I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced. At the same time, I teach the grammar rules to the student. I now live in regions where French has been spoken for over 30 years. Because I have learned French myself (and I am still learning other languages), I can easily put myself in a student's shoes. I can teach in French, Dutch, English, German and Russian.

If your child is having difficulties in school, I would love to be able to help them overcome them. I had the opportunity to work in several non-profit organizations (Schola ULB, Youth Club, CIFA, ABEF) where I helped young adolescents understand their subject in French. I also helped them prepare for their exams, including the CEB and CE1D. We will work together on their lessons, we will review the vocabulary and grammar they need to know and we will work on their difficulties in order to overcome them. In view of the current situation, I teach only online.

I create a learning experience (content and pace) adapted to your needs: speaking fluently, DELF/ DALF test preparation, or just to have conversations to help with travel or relocation. We can have our lessons in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying various aspects of learning a language. It's not just about memorizing complex conjugations! I work with a variety of online resources, all of which is shared with you after the lesson. For structure and to gauge progress, I also work with certain books depending on the level and the requirement. Unless you wish to focus on specific skills, I try to include speaking, listening and reading during the session, while writing exercises are given as homework. Grammar points are handled as and when they come up.

I am offering English lessons to students of all ages and levels as part of school, exam preparation, or just out of interest in vocabulary, grammar, and/or pronunciation. My experience has been mostly with children individually or in group lessons learning English as a second language of ages between 7 and 17. My aim is to help students establish a goal and help them along the path of reaching that goal, with clear progress milestones. I speak English at native level but I can also teach in Dutch depending on your needs. I have an English-spoken Bachelor's Degree in Politics and Law, having received an A on my International Human Rights Law thesis, a 1560/1600 on my SAT and 5/5 in AP English Language. I am also happy to do exam-specific tutoring.
